Description
Delicious and fun edible nests made of chow mein noodles coated in white chocolate, perfect for any festive occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 ounces white chocolate melting wafers
- 1½ tablespoons coconut oil
- 3 cups dry chow mein noodles
- 3 drops green food coloring
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- Cadbury Mini Eggs, jelly beans, or other similar candies
Instructions
- In a medium microwave safe bowl, add the white chocolate wafers. Heat for about 30 seconds, then remove and stir. Continue to heat and stir in 30 second intervals until the wafers are almost completely melted. Once almost completely melted, add the coconut oil and stir well until combined and the chocolate is eventually completely melted.
- Add the chow mein noodles to the melted white chocolate and gently mix to coat.
- Spray cupcake pans with nonstick spray, then add a spoonful of chow mein noodles to each tin to form a small nest. You will want it to come up to the lip of the pan.
- Place the shredded coconut into a freezer bag. Add 3 drops of green food coloring, seal, and shake until all the coconut is green and looks like ‘grass.’
- Add about 1 tablespoon of coconut grass to the top of each bird nest and place your favorite kind of egg-shaped candy on top. Let the treats cool until you are able to easily unmold them. Enjoy!
Notes
- This recipe is a great activity for kids to engage in during special occasions.
- Make sure to let the nests cool completely before carefully removing them from the cupcake pans.
