Description

Delightful rolled sourdough bread filled with a creamy Nutella and cream cheese mixture, topped with strawberries and walnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 1/2-inch-thick slices sourdough bread
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temp
  • 1/3 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 2 cups diced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Instructions

  1. Flatten the sourdough slices using a rolling pin until they’re about 1/4-inch thick. Roll gently but firmly to prevent tearing—the bread should be pliable enough to roll without cracking.
  2. Combine the cream cheese and Nutella in a small bowl, mixing until completely smooth and well blended. This creates the perfect creamy base that spreads evenly without lumps.
  3. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly across each flattened bread slice, leaving about a 1/2-inch border on all sides. I like to use an offset spatula for the smoothest, most even coverage.
  4. Sprinkle the diced strawberries and toasted walnuts over the chocolate spread, distributing them evenly but keeping them away from the edges to prevent spillage during rolling.
  5. Roll each slice tightly from one short end to the other, pressing gently as you go to keep the filling in place. The flattened bread should wrap around itself easily without cracking.
  6. Brush the outside of each roll generously with melted butter, coating all surfaces. This ensures even browning and creates that irresistible golden crust.
  7. Toast in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, turning carefully with tongs until all sides are golden brown and crispy. The filling should be warm and slightly melty when done.
  8. Slice each roll diagonally into 2-3 pieces using a sharp knife, then serve immediately while the outside is still crispy and the chocolate filling is warm and gooey.
