Description

A hearty and flavorful cabbage beef casserole perfect for dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 pounds chopped cabbage
  • 29 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 teaspoons dry parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (or 3/4 teaspoon table salt)
  • 1 teaspoon dry dill
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the beef, breaking it up. Once broken up, add the onion and garlic. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until the beef is cooked. Drain the excess grease.
  3. In 2 large bowls, combine the beef mixture with the chopped cabbage, tomato sauce, rice, parsley, salt, dill, and pepper. Mix well to combine and then put in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Pour the beef broth over the casserole. Cover and bake for 1 hour. Stir, re-cover, and then return to the oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
  5. Serve with sour cream.
