Description

A refreshing classic margarita cocktail with fresh lime and lemon juice.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 7 limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces margarita mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or triple sec)

Instructions

  1. Simmer 2 cups of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar over medium heat until it is fully dissolved.
  2. Pour it into a jar and let it come to room temperature.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 cup lime juice.
  4. Store it in a sealed container for a week or for up to a month in the freezer.
  5. Rim a tumbler glass with lime juice, then dip in salt. Fill the glass with ice.
  6. Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake to combine.
  7. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh juices instead of bottled.
