Description

This Homemade Peppermint Mocha is a delightful treat that combines rich espresso with the refreshing taste of mint, topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (5g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/4 teaspoon mint extract (or half a small crushed peppermint candy cane, or 1 tablespoon peppermint syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Chocolate shavings, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Heat over medium-low heat, whisking continuously, until small bubbles form around the edges and sugar is fully dissolved. Do not boil vigorously. If using a crushed candy cane, add it now to dissolve.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the brewed espresso (or strong coffee), mint extract, and vanilla extract. Whisk well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Pour the mixture into a mug. Top generously with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Peppermint Mocha.

Notes

  • This recipe can be adjusted for sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
  • If you prefer a stronger mint flavor, use peppermint syrup instead of extract.
